Zhongshan on December 18 launched a smartphone app called "Sunshine Food". "With the 'Sunshine Food' app, people can see the environment of the kitchen back in the restaurant through the mobile phone. One can even make relevant suggestions to the restaurant operators," stated Cen Zhiyong, deputy director of the Zhongshan Administration for Market Regulation.

Presently, some 1,000 food production and business units in Zhongshan have registered in the app, including school canteens, nursing institutions for the aged, restaurants, quick detection stations in farmers' markets, food processing workshops, etc. Famous names include Xin Garden, Wonderful Childhood Kindergarten, Shiqilao, Jinji Restaurant, and Xiangshan Family Dinner and so on.

The "Sunshine Food" app is one of the "Zhongshan Top 10 Livelihood Projects" in 2019. Through the application, citizens are able to check the food and beverage safety status in participating commercial kitchens, farmers' markets and small food processing workshops anytime and anywhere.
