The Capital Institute of Science and Technology Development Strategy together with the Urban and Competitiveness Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences recently released the China Urban Technology Innovation Development Index 2019 in Beijing.

The top five cities in the list are Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Nanjing. Zhongshan ranks 24th nationwide.

There are 253 prefecture-level cities participating in the evaluation. The top 10 prefecture-level cities in the list are Suzhou, Zhuhai, Changzhou, Wuxi, Dongguan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhenjiang, Wuhu and Jiaxing.

It is reported that the China Urban Technology Innovation Development Index 2019 measures and evaluates the development level of science and technology innovation in 289 cities at or above prefecture level in China. The Index will provide a reference for decision-making for governments at all levels.
