Ordinary high schools starts online classes
Updated: 2020-02-10    Source: Zhongshan Daily Large Medium Small Print

Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau on February 6 issued the "Guidelines for Online Learning during the Postponement of the 2020 Spring Semester in Zhongshan Primary and Secondary Schools", requiring the senior grades of the city's ordinary high schools to start online classes on February 10 and grades at the compulsory education stage to start on February 17.

According to the Guidelines, during the postponement period, Zhongshan will make use of information technology to carry out online teaching (online classes) across the city. Online academic guidance should focus on students' self-directed learning, supplemented by teachers' guidance and answering questions.

The Guidelines suggest schools to organize online teaching. No teaching platform or resource that implements online learning shall charge any fees to students or their families.

The online classes for each schooling stage and grade will last until the higher authorities announce the starting time of the school semester. It is suggested that the school shall formulate an online teaching guidance plan for at least one month.

In addition, Zhongshan's education department will also coordinate the resources of famous local teachers, organize them to set up online classes, and record high-quality courses for schools to choose from. These courses will be first available on www.zsedu.net.
