The Department of Education of Guangdong Province specified that primary and middle schools in Guangdong shall start online education on March 2, while colleges, universities and secondary vocational schools shall start online education in March. Students shall not return to school. Kindergartens and special education schools shall not start online education and those students shall not return to school.

In addition, before students are allowed to return to school, schools of all levels and types shall not organize centralized teaching, practical training and other related activities. Training institutions shall not carry out offline training activities, either.

The Department of Education of Guangdong Province has also issued guidelines for online education, stipulating that the daily online education time for primary school students shall not exceed 2 hours, and that for middle school students and high school students it shall not exceed 3 hours. Online education is an integral part of normal teaching, so the duration of online education can be counted into the normal teaching duration.

At present, colleges and universities in Zhongshan have already begun to prepare online education courses, and primary and middle schools will also update their previous online education courses where appropriate.
