The ship "AVIC 923" loaded with 61 containers on March 13 departed at Zhongshan Ferry Terminal, marking the official launch of public ferry transportation mode between Zhongshan and Hong Kong.

The public ferry transportation mode has the benefits of ship space sharing and multi-point loading and unloading. Ships sailing to and from Hong Kong can berth at Zhongshan Ferry Terminal, Waiyun Wharf and Xiaolan Port to load and unload goods.

"The new mode will bring many benefits such as cost reduction, speed increase and efficiency increase to ships between Zhongshan and Hong Kong. It is estimated that the utilization rate of ship space can be increased by 20%-30%. The increase in the density of inbound and outbound voyages has also given Zhongshan foreign trade enterprises more flexible import and export choices," said Chen Yibang, deputy general manager of Zhongshan Port&Shipping Enterprise Group Limited.
