"Zhongshan makes us feel safe. Guzhen Town's anti-epidemic work requires translation and communication. By being volunteers, we hope to made some contributions." Yu Juan said on the afternoon of May 8.

In March, preventing the import of overseas COVID-19 cases became the top priority of the city's epidemic prevention and control work. In order to properly explain the policies and comfort foreigners, the Guzhen Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters specially deployed 4 exceptional English speaking staff and set up a team of volunteer interpreters.

Touched by the hardworking and busy government staff, Yu Juan actively contacted the relevant departments of Guzhen Town. After confirming that Guzhen Town was in need of more volunteers, she organized more than a dozen English teachers to carry out online and in person registration and investigation of foreigners requiring examination and isolation.

Leng Jiahui is a member of the volunteer team. During an interpretation mission, she visited four foreigners in succession and wore protective clothing for four hours. She wrote in her diary that after the 4 hours she was drenched in sweat, unable to eat or drink, and it made her realize the hard daily work of the anti-epidemic staff.

"Where there is a need, there will be those of us who are always ready to help. As volunteers, we will stick to it." Yu Juan said.
