On the morning of June 10, Zhongshan Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held the 2020 Zhongshan Propagation and Releasing Activity with the theme of "Increasing Aquatic Biological Resources and Building an Ecologically-friendly and Beautiful Zhongshan" at the dock of Jiaming Power Plant in Tsuihang New District.

This year, Zhongshan will carry out propagation and releasing activities in four waves in the coastal waters of Hengmen Area, Xijiang River, and Xiaolan Waterway. More than 13 million fish, including 9 aquatic species such as sea bream, sea bass (Lateolabrax japonicus), shrimp, grass carp, and bighead carp, will be released.

Aquatic animals have been released into local water sources for 38 consecutive years since 1982 when Zhongshan first started large-scale release activities. During these years, Zhongshan has spent more than 16 million yuan on releasing more than 550 million adolescent fish.
