On June 12, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced the national environmental air quality index in May and January-May cumulative index.

Among the 168 key cities in China, Zhongshan ranked 5th in May and 9th in the January-May period in air quality.

Statistics from the Zhongshan Bureau of Ecology and Environment show that from January 1 to May 31, Zhongshan's comprehensive atmospheric environment index (2.85) dropped 14.4% from the same period last year, ranking 4th in the Pearl River Delta and 10th in Guangdong province.
