The Politics and Law Committee of the Zhongshan Municipal Committee of the CPC on July 2 held a press conference to report on the special efforts to crack down on mafia-style gangs and criminals since 2018.

From January to June this year, Zhongshan's criminal and police cases dropped by 5.26% from last year, the filing of the eight types of serious violent criminal cases dropped by 37.12%, and the number of robberies, forcible seizures and theft cases dropped by 46.28%.

By the end of June this year, Zhongshan had rooted out 11 mafia-style gangs, 39 criminal groups and 598 gang-related organizations. Zhongshan sealed up, froze and seized assets of 1.145 billion yuan, prosecuted 317 cases involving 1,469 gang-related criminals, and concluded 137 such cases involving 940 criminals.

In 2019, Zhongshan's  satisfaction with political and legal work scored 86.40, ranking 6th in Guangdong province.
