On the afternoon of July 20, a Jiefang refrigerated transport truck arrived at the yard of the Sanxiang Town government. Liao Haiwen, a staff member of Hesheng Company in Zhongshan, was unloading the cargo. In order to broaden the sales of commercial rabbits in Huzhu Village of Nan'an Town in Suijiang County, Yunnan Province's Zhaotong City, at the initiative of the Sanxiang Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, Zhongshan citizens actively participated in the consumption activity to support poverty alleviation efforts. In addition to the first batch of 1,500 frozen rabbits, another 2,500 will be transported to Zhongshan soon.
"These rabbits are worth only 30 yuan each if sold locally, but we can sell at 60 yuan each to help local people gain more revenue." Liao Haiwen said.
The breeding base for commercial rabbits in Huzhu Village is one of the poverty alleviation cooperative industrial projects supported by the towns and districts in the eastern Zhongshan. Since 2019, the base has sold more than 40,000 commercial rabbits, making more than 2 million yuan in profits, which has helped 134 registered poor households to increase their income and solved employment problem for 7 local farmers.
