The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently approved the construction plan for inter-city railway in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Zhongshan North Station will be built into one of the major transportation hubs in the West Pearl River Delta.

According to the approved plan, the Greater Bay Area has received a total investment of 474.1 billion yuan for recent construction projects. It is planned to build 13 inter-city railway lines and 5 hubs, with a total distance of 775 kilometers.

The Zhongshan-Tangxia section of the Zhongshan-Nansha-Humen Inter-city Railway will start construction, with stops in Zhongshan, Guangzhou's Nansha, and Dongguan'sTangxia.

An inter-city railway will also be built to connect Guangzhou's Nansha with Zhongshan and Zhuhai.

The West Pearl River Delta will develop Jiangmen, Hezhou of Zhuhai, and Zhongshan North as the main railway stations and Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Pengjiang, and Hengqin as secondary railway stations.

The NDRC requires that a traffic circle with one-hour access among major cities in the Greater Bay Area, two-hour access from major cities to inland cities in Guangdong Province, and three-hour access from major cities to neighboring provincial capitals should be built within the Greater Bay Area.
