It is the harvest season of the late rice. On the morning of October 26, the Zhongshan Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics went to Yakou Village, Nanlang Town to measure the harvest. The data will be used to calculate the grain yield per unit area.

Harvest measurements are used to estimate the total crop yield based on the yield of the monitored plots. The average yield of the selected plots can be calculated according to the sample's weight. "This data is helpful to find out the estimated grain yield and provide statistical investigation services for governments at all levels to make relevant policies," said Yang Yuzheng, a senior researcher of the Zhongshan Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics.

"The samples are required to be kept for at least 3 months for future inspection." Yang Yuzheng introduced that the total agricultural yield sampling survey includes a number of procedures, and taking sample measurements on harvest is one of them. In addition, utilizing UAVs with remote sensing achieves data acquisition with higher accuracy, faster speed and more detailed information have been used since June this year and have replaced traditional crop survey methods.
