The 15th Zhongshan Forum for Health and Development and 2020 Wu Jieping Medicine Prize Presentation Ceremony opened in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province on November 27.

The forum is themed "Epidemic Prevention and Health". A total of 400 guests, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, experts, deans and principals of health medicine related schools, well-known pharmaceutical entrepreneurs, heads of industry associations, and representatives from investment and financing sectors attended the forum to initiate discussions on the construction of the national public health system, improvement of urban emergency response systems, and opportunities and challenges in the medical health industry in the context of COVID-19.

The 2020 Wu Jieping Medicine Prize and Medical Innovation Prize were presented during the conference. Ruan Changgeng won the Wu Jieping Medicine Prize, while Ma Jun, Wang Xinghuan, Wang Jie, Ji Xunming, and Shen Huahao won the Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Prize.

In addition, the Zhongshan People's Government signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine at the opening ceremony. The two parties will build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine at the National Health Technology Park in Torch Development Zone. A number of scientific research and public service platforms are planned to directly incubate and attract at least 20 enterprises within 5 years.

Four sub-forums on the Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gastrointestinal Science Frontier, Innovative Orthopedics, and Medical Health Investment were held as well.
