An opening ceremony for various key transportation projects was held in Zhongshan on December 29.
With a total length of about 19 kilometers, Huangpu Expressway, which connects Dongsheng Town in Zhongshan with Shunde District in Foshan, is now fully open. From now on it only takes half an hour to get from Zhongshan to Shunde and vice versa. The Huangpu Expressway runs through 4 towns in the north-south direction: Huangpu, Fusha, Gangkou and Dongsheng. Construction of the project began in April 2013, and the northern section, with a total length of 11.9 kilometers, was completed in sections in 2018 and 2019.
The much anticipated Linglan Road project in Huangpu Town also opened to traffic on the same day. Linglan Road is an important road connecting Huangpu Port, Huangpu Expressway, and the Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway, with a total length of about 7.1 kilometers. The logistics costs of enterprises can be reduced and the shipping volume of Huangpu Port can be greatly increased as a result of the completion of this project.
In addition, more than 10 bottleneck roads also opened to traffic, including Nansha Road in East District, Yanjiang Road in South District, and Yunyang Road in Shaxi Town. So far, 26 of the 38 bottleneck roads in Zhongshan that are scheduled to be completed this year or next year have been put into use.
