The required work for the demolition of Qijiang River Bridge in the South Outer Ring was completed on January 19, and construction workers were made final preparations for the demolition.

It is reported that due to the construction of the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway, the Qijiang River Bridge in the South Outer Ring is to be closed for demolition starting January 28. A double-deck steel truss arch bridge will be rebuilt on the original site to meet the traffic demand of the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway and the South Outer Ring.

The project is expected to be completed on September 30, 2023 with a planned construction period of 33 months. During the construction, east-west traffic through the South Outer Ring will be diverted by roads such as Yuelai South Road, national highway G105, Fuhua Road, Bo'ai Road, Chengnan Road, West Ring Road, Xianshi Road, and Yong'an Road.
