According to data released by the Zhongshan Transportation Bureau on March 9, a total of 6.0664 million passengers traveled from Zhongshan during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush this year (January 28 to March 8), 19.45% more than last year.

This figure included 5.3333 million passengers traveling via roads and highways, down 36.42% from 2019 and up 21.26% from 2020, 719,600 passengers via railway, down 39.07% from 2019 and up 17.84% from 2020, and 13,500 passengers via waterways, down 92.28% from 2019 and 80.58% from 2020.

Some 8,162 cross-provincial buses transported 122,400 passengers during this period, mainly to Hunan, Guangxi, Yunnan and Jiangxi. This was 75.62% less than in 2019 and 55.83% less than in 2020. Additionally, 27,084 intercity buses carried 349,300 passengers mainly to Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Foshan. This was 72.08% less than in 2019 and 52.03% less than in 2020.
