The Zhongshan aiding-Africa medical team activated an emergency plan after the March 7 explosions in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and worked tirelessly to treat the injured.

On the afternoon of March 7, several explosions rocked a military camp in Bata, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. The medical team in Bata was promptly informed of the casualties from the explosions by the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the Consulate General of China in Bata, and injured civilians of a China-backed enterprise were sent to the medical team station for emergency treatment.

The medical team immediately activated an emergency plan and treated the 9 injured citizens (including 7 Chinese citizens and 2 African citizens). After 2 hours of treatment, all 9 injured were treated and 2 seriously injured among them were transferred to the local hospital for further examination.

During the first aid procedure, Xu Zhuangsheng, Chinese Consul General in Bata, was entrusted by Qi Mei, Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, to make a special trip to the station to visit the injured.

On March 8, all team members rushed to Bata General Hospital to provide treatment to about 60 patients from the accident. The medical team also donated self-raised first aid materials to Bata General Hospital.

On the noon of March 8, Equatorial Guinea Prime Minister Francisco Pascual Obama called to express his sincere thanks to all Chinese medical teams for their hard work to treat the injured and the timely delivery of urgently needed supplies.
