Guangdong Communication Group on March 22 released the latest news, saying that after nearly 27 hours of continuous operation in the busy Lingdingyang Bay, the E8 tube section of the immersed tunnel of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge was 36 meters underwater.

The E8 tube section is 165 meters long, 46 meters wide, 10.6 meters high and weigh about 80,000 tons. It is installed at almost the deepest place  of the whole project.

Ning Jinjin, executive deputy chief engineer of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge project department of CCCC First Engineering Co Ltd, said that in face of many challenges, an early start on the plan and well-researched deployment ensured a safe and efficient completion of the E8 tube section installation.

So far, a total of 1,278.5 meters of the 5,035-meter immersed tunnel of the island-tunnel project of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge have been completed.
