The Zhongshan Bureau of Ecology and Environment introduced a team led by Professor Zhou Yongzhang from Sun Yat-sen University through public bidding to carry out research related to peak carbon dioxide emission, carbon neutrality, climate change and other topics.

The research includes: preparing the annual Zhongshan greenhouse gas emission inventory, carrying out research and action plans for peak carbon dioxide emissions, providing technical support for Zhongshan's 2021 carbon emission assessment, building basic safeguards for coping with climate change, and assessing climate change's risk and vulnerability in Zhongshan.

According to a spokesperson of the Zhongshan Bureau of Ecology and Environment, curbing greenhouse gas emissions and further improving the basic ability to coping with climate change by conducting the project with the help of low-carbon think tanks and professional technicians will be very effective.
