After the opening of the first section on May 1, the second section of Phase I of the Tanzhou Expressway, about 10.2 kilometers long, opened to traffic on May 20, This section ranges from the Wuguishan District Administration Office to the Shunchang Square in Sanxiang Town.

On May 18, the Zhongshan Transportation Bureau invited deputies to the Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress to experience the newly opened section in advance in order to collect their opinions and suggestions on improvement to traffic flow and construction.

The 15-kilometer opened sections takes just over 20 minutes to cover at a speed of 40km/h. The driving time from Sanxiang Town to Zhongshan downtown will be shortened by half an hour after the Tanzhou Expressway entirely opens to traffic in the future.

As of May 15, the Phase I of the Tanzhou Expressway has completed an investment of 5.113 billion yuan, accounting for 83.1% of the total planned investment.
