Zhongshan mayor Xiao Zhanxin on October 22 met with a visiting delegation led by Han Jae Heuk, consul general of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou. The two sides exchanged views on expanding communication and deepening mutual cooperation and development.

On behalf of the Zhongshan Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Zhongshan People's Government, Xiao Zhanxin extended a warm welcome to Han Jae Heuk and the delegation, and introduced Zhongshan's economic and social development. The Zhongshan mayor noted that South Korea is the 7th largest trading partner of Zhongshan. From January to September this year, Zhongshan's imports and exports to South Korea amounted to 5.66 billion yuan, up 15.4% year-on-year. Zhongshan will further strengthen government-enterprise cooperation, improve service protection, optimize the local business environment, and facilitate the development of Korean enterprises in Zhongshan.

Han Jae Heuk mentioned that this year marks the launch of the "China-South Korea Cultural Exchange Year", and next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea. The consul general is very willing to introduce Zhongshan to more enterprises and bring more people to know about Zhongshan. He will actively push forward bilateral cooperation in economic, cultural and other fields.
