Main bodies of the east and west anchorages were completed days before, and the beams of the east and west main towers were poured, signaling the accelerated construction progress of the Lingdingyang Bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge.

The Lingdingyang Bridge is the world's largest-spanning steel box girder suspension bridge with a main span of 1,666 meters. There are two anchorages, one at each of the east and west ends of the bridge, each measuring 61.14 meters long, 83 meters wide and 38.51 meters tall. Every anchorage is as large as 17 international-standard basketball courts and weighs about 1 million tons.

"Anchorages are the key stress components of a suspension bridge. The point fixes the main cable and acts like two scales to balance the forces of stress," said Chen Huanyong, an engineer of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge Management Center's Chief Engineering Office.
