After the second plenary meeting, the first session of the 16th Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress concluded on the afternoon of January 14.
Guo Wenhai was elected director of the Standing Committee of the 16th Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress, Ouyang Guiyou, Lin Kai, Chen Fuying, Wu Jun, Chen Huidong and Wang Chaogang were elected deputy chairmen, Yu Zhenxiao was elected secretary general, and 30 persons including Wang Andong were elected as Standing Committee members; Xiao Zhanxin was elected mayor of the Zhongshan People's Government, and Ye Hongguang, Liu Yunmei, Lu Gang, Zeng Yi, Zhou Zuode and Ouyang Jinquan were elected as deputy mayors; Liu Zhimin was elected director of the municipal supervisory committee; Liao Wanchun was elected chief justice of the Zhongshan Intermediate People's Court; and Zhou Hong was elected procurator-general of the People's Procuratorate of Zhongshan, which needs further approval from the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress.
The meeting voted to approve the candidate list for the special committees of the 16th Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress. Newly elected personnel were awarded certificates and pledged allegiance to the Constitution.
The session approved by voting the resolution on the Zhongshan People's Government work report as well as the decision of carrying out inefficient industrial park renovation in towns and villages across the city. Zhongshan's annual people's livelihood projects for 2022 were announced, and a satisfaction evaluation on the completion of the projects for 2021 was conducted. "The Motion on Accelerating the Water Pollution Control in Zhongshan", jointly put forward by 15 MPC deputies, was approved as the conference bill. The other 75 motions received would be regarded as suggestions, criticisms and opinions, and were transferred to relevant institutions and organizations.
