Huang Zhihao, deputy secretary of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee and mayor of Zhuhai, made an inspection tour to Zhongshan on February 21. Guo Wenhai, secretary of the CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress, and Xiao Zhanxin, deputy secretary of the CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee and mayor of Zhongshan, met with Huang Zhihao and the inspection team.

During the trip, the two sides held a symposium to discuss such cooperation issues as transportation, water treatment, water-related affairs and joint prevention and control against COVID-19. The two sides put forward suggestions and reached a consensus on cooperation.

The symposium indicated that the two cities will jointly promote a series of transit projects, including phase II of the Eastern Outer Ring Highway, Xianghai Road north section and the Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Zhuhai-Macao High-speed Railway, to boost the integrated development. The two cities will carry out in-depth study on major water conservancy and water pollution treatment projects, hoping to systematically resolve waterlogging problems in Zhongshan's Tanzhou and Sanxiang towns and Zhuhai's Xiangzhou District as well as to propel comprehensive management of cross-border river basins. Efforts will also be put in strengthening joint prevention and control against COVID-19 to further improve cross-regional epidemic response mechanisms and enhance regional emergency response capabilities.
