The foundation trench of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge's immersed tunnel was joined up on June 30. The CCCC Guangzhou Waterway Bureau will continue to carry out regular dredging and maintenance tasks for the foundation trench to keep the construction of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge on schedule.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge underwater tunnel is about 6.8 km long, including a 5-km-long underwater section composed of 32 pipe sections and 1 final joint. It is the world's first extra-long, super-wide underwater tunnel with eight total lanes going both directions.
