In the first half of 2022, Zhongshan's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.7% year-on-year, 0.4 percentage points lower than that of the provincial average figure (2.1%); Zhongshan ranked eighth among the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta.
The CPI increase was mainly affected by rising non-food prices. In the first half, the combined prices of food, tobacco and alcohol in Zhongshan decreased by 0.5%, while the price of other goods increased by 2.8%; Food prices decreased by 1.7%, non-food prices increased by 2.5%, and the core CPI excluding food and energy prices increased by 1.4%. Consumer goods prices rose by 1.8%, and service prices rose by 1.5%.
