Zhongshan recently held an analysis meeting on ecological environment situation for the first half of 2022 to report on the ambient air quality, water environment quality and the progress of rural domestic sewage treatment.

Notable facts from the meeting include the percentage of days with good air quality in Zhongshan as 91.2% and that the comprehensive air quality index ranked 13th among 168 key cities in China through the end of June 2022. Additionally, Zhongshan's comprehensive water quality index ranked second in Guangdong Province.

In terms of rural domestic sewage treatment, Zhongshan Public Utilities, related towns and districts and other construction bodies propelled and accelerated the construction of rural sewage treatment projects, and 88 administrative villages in Zhongshan basically met their treatment requirements. By the end of July, the rural sewage treatment rate had increased to about 40%.
