On November 20, bathed in the warm morning sun, several tourists gathered to take photos on an ancient-style bridge in the middle section of the Tugua River, Shaxi Town.

Built at the early Ming Dynasty, this stone bridge was a main route via which villagers went to local fairs. Later with new roads built, it gradually submerged by weeds and water.

Recently, workers from China First Metallurgical Construction Group Co Ltd (CFMCC) responsible for the renovation project of Tugua River have made protective restoration to the bridge. The bridge now has become a famous landscape spot among residents, and it has been recognized by the local government as a model for river management.

Since March 2020, CFMCC has launched a treatment project for 58 rivers (water sections) across four towns and districts. "Zhongshan is famous nationally for its history and culture with a lot of historical sites, ancient buildings and valuable cultural relics. There are more than 20 ancient buildings within the construction sites alone." According to the project leader, they are trying to retain the memory of the city through responsible construction.
