The 13th Guangdong Middle School Games took place in Shaoguan from July 24 to August 8, 2022, with the participation of some 5,000 athletes from 21 cities in Guangdong.

Zhongshan fielded 309 athletes for 12 events, including track and field, swimming, basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, wushu, rope skipping, cheerleading, aerobic gymnastics and orienteering. After 18 days of intense competition, Zhongshan claimed 26 golds, 24 silvers and 28 bronzes, finishing 4th and winning the first prize with an overall score of 1,194.6 points. 

The 14th Guangdong Middle School Games in 2025 will be hosted by Zhongshan.
