Due to the optimized epidemic control policies and the release of several blockbusters, Zhongshan's film market during the Spring Festival holiday this year has regained its prosperity.

According to film platform Maoyan, Zhongshan's box office during the 7-day Spring Festival holiday (from January 21 to 27) reached 20.499 million yuan (including service charges), basically even with that during the Spring Festival holiday in 2022 and up nearly 150% from the National Day holiday in 2022 (8.418 million yuan). The total number of cinema goers was 439,000 and the average ticket price was about 46.7 yuan.

The Wandering Earth II, a high-budget sci-fi blockbuster, and Full River Red, a historical film directed by Zhang Yimou, attracted flocks of audiences. Other films like Hidden Blade, China-made animated feature Deep Sea and light comedy Five Hundred Miles also were also popular among cinema goers.
