The Shaxi section of the Shenzhen-Maoming Railway, a key project in the town, broke ground days before.

With a total investment of 51.31 billion yuan, the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway, also known as the Shenzhen-Jiangmen section of the Shenzhen-Maoming Railway, is China's first cross-sea high-speed railway scheduled to be opened to traffic in late March 2028. The 116.12-kilometer railway passes through five cities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, namely Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan and Jiangmen.

Seven stations, namely Shenzhen Xili, Shenzhen Airport East, Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area, Nansha, Zhongshan North, Henglan and Jiangmen, will be constructed for 250km/h high-speed trains running on the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway.

Upon completion of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway, Shaxi Town will be within a 30-minute life radius of both the Shenzhen-Nansha and Zhongshan-Jiangmen metropolitan areas.
