The Fanshi waterway near Shenzhen Airport was calm on June 11. At a depth of 24 meters, the final joint of the subsea tunnel of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, or the ShenZhong Link, was precisely connected to the E24 tube segment, marking the closure of the world's longest and widest steel-shell immersed tube tunnel.

As a key component of the subsea tunnel, the final joint, 5.1 meters in length, 46 meters in width, 9.75 meters in height and about 1,600 tons in weight, was placed in the expanded section of the E23 tube segment.

Via the "undersea great wall" built over a period of five years, Shenzhen and Zhongshan join hands under the sea in the Lingdingyang waters.
