A meeting was recently held to analyze Zhongshan's ecology and environment situation. The meeting reported the city's air and water quality and the rectification of environment-related problems in the first half, as well as arranged the key tasks for the next stage.

In the first half of 2023, Zhongshan's atmospheric environment composite index was 2.92, and the AQI compliance rate was 87.8%. Zhongshan ranked 12th among 168 key cities and 4th in the Pearl River Delta region in air quality.

In the first five months, the average compliance rate of Zhongshan's four sections involved in the national surface water assessment was 100%, and the compliance rate of the water quality of the three municipal and 23 township-level centralized drinking water sources was 100%. The water quality of inland rivers improved overall in the second quarter, with the comprehensive water quality index dropping by 10.57% year on year.
