In the first half of 2023, Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.7% year on year, down 0.6 percentage points from the first quarter in terms of growth.
Six categories of goods and services rose in prices, and two categories declined. Housing prices were down 0.7% year on year, and transportation and communication prices down 2.8% year on year.
Food prices were up 4.1% year on year, and service prices up 1.0% year on year.
In the first half, Zhongshan's CPI growth was 0.1 percentage points lower than the provincial figure (up 0.8% year on year), ranking in the middle among the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta.
