The Dongfu Road overpass, part of the Nansan Highway (Nantou to Huangpu section) renovation, was completed and opened to traffic on August 31.

"After the opening of the Dongfu Road overpass, drivers will no longer need to wait at traffic lights, which greatly alleviates the east-west traffic congestion," said the renovation project leader, adding that the driving time will be cut by five minutes.

The Nansan Highway (Nantou to Huangpu section) renovation commenced in August last year and is currently 70% completed. Construction of the Guangming tunnel in Nantou Town, the Huangpu viaduct in Huangpu Town, the Xinsha Bridge and the Aoxin and Dongfu overpasses is underway. The main line of Nansan Highway (Nantou to Huangpu section) is scheduled to open the Xinsha Bridge side for two-way traffic by November.
