The Rowing Men's Eights (8+) final of the Hangzhou Asian Games took place at Fuyang Aquatic Sports Center on the morning of September 24. Team China, consisting of Liang Weixiong from Zhongshan and eight other Chinese athletes, won the championship with a time of 5'40''17''', securing the gold medal for the China's delegation. This victory also marks the first gold medal obtained by Zhongshan athletes in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Born in 1994, Liang Weixiong was selected to practice pole vaulting at Huangpu Hengdang Primary School in 2006. After graduating from Zhongshan Sports School in 2012, he later joined the provincial rowing team and became a helmsman.
In 2019, Liang Weixiong graduated from Wuhan Sports University with a major in sports training. He won the gold medal in the Rowing Men's Eights (8+) at the 13th National Games and the silver medal in the Rowing Men's Eights (8+) at the 14th National Games.
