In the first quarter of this year, Zhongshan's CPI (Consumer Price IndexI) recorded a year-on-year decline of 0.1%.
To be specific, the price of food, tobacco and alcohol decreased by 1.1%, while that of non-food, tobacco and alcohol increased by 0.4%. The price of food dropped by 3.1%, while that of non-food increased by 0.6%. The price of consumer goods declined by 0.7%, while that of services increased by 0.9%. The core CPI (excluding food and energy) rose by 0.7%.
The price indexes of eight major categories of goods and services experienced four increases and four decreases. Among them, the price of education, culture and entertainment rose by 3.7%, contributing to a 0.42 percentage points increase in CPI. The price of transportation and communication decreased by 2.0%, resulting in a 0.27 percentage points decrease in CPI.
From January to March, the month-on-month prices of fresh food generally exhibited a pattern of initially rising and then falling. Among them, the prices of pork, fresh vegetables and fresh fruits decreased by 16.5%, 4.9% and 3.9%, respectively.
Eating out prices rose by 2.0%, leading to a 0.22 percentage points rise in CPI.
The service prices increased by a total of 0.9%. Among them, the prices of vehicle rent, travel agency services, other tourism services and other cultural and entertainment services increased by 19.5%, 15.4%, 7.2% and 5.5%, respectively.
The price of industrial products dropped by a cumulative 0.3%. Among them, the automobile price continued to decline, with fuel-powered cars and new energy cars experiencing decreases of 4.4% and 6.2% respectively.
