In the first half of 2024, Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) dropped by 0.3% compared with the same period last year.
Specifically, prices of food, tobacco and alcohol decreased by 1.2%, non-food prices increased by 0.3%, consumer goods prices decreased by 0.7%, and service prices increased by 0.3%. Excluding food and energy, the core CPI rose by 0.2%.
Prices of education, culture and entertainment increased by 2.4%, prices of other goods and services increased by 1.6%, prices of daily necessities and services increased by 1.2%, and prices of healthcare increased by 0.3%.
Prices of transportation and communication decreased by 1.9%, and those of food, tobacco and alcohol, clothing, and housing decreased by 1.2%, 0.4%, and 0.2%, respectively.
In the first half, food prices decreased by 2.9% year-on-year. The pork price experienced a most significant decline, with a year-on-year decrease of 11.6%. Prices of fresh vegetables and fruits decreased by 1.6% and 5.7%, respectively.
Affected by the fluctuations in domestic refined oil prices, prices of fuel for vehicles increased, with gasoline and diesel prices rising by 3.5% and 3.8% respectively.
Prices of conventional cars and new energy vehicles decreased by 5.4% and 9.4% respectively.
