After a morning's work, Old Kuang shows up at an old house in Shenwan Village in Zhongshan's Banfu Town.

It has been a habit for the 84-year-old to take a walk in the yard every day for over three years. The old house, once covered in weeds and rarely visited by people, has now been restored. The old items inside evoke memories of past times for many.

Built in 1928, this previous Shagang School carries the shared memories of generations. Che Shenguang, Old Kuang's son, invested over 2 million yuan since 2021 to restore the building, which has become a popular place for villagers and overseas Chinese who return home.

Shagang School was the predecessor of Shenwan Primary School. As the earliest school in Banfu, it was once suspended and then resumed to operations during and after wars. After the school was relocated, this building was once rented to a furniture factory for a period of time, and then left unused for a long time.

On January 1, 2021, Che signed a contract with the village committee, planning to invest over 2 million in its restoration, which means the old house finally finds its new owner.

Now, many fellow villagers returning from Hong Kong, Macao and other places always visit the restored building, where they savor the unfading memories between new scenery and old things.

Che hopes his efforts could encourage more elites and young people to return to Shenwan and contribute their strength to the village's development.
