This is one of the activities for the 2024 Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Day. Over 100 people, including guests of the Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Day opening ceremony, young people from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and abroad, and overseas students, participated in the village tour.

Starting from Caobian School, the first modern school in Zhongshan funded by overseas Chinese, participants visited the Anshanxiang Cultural and Creative Park, Longjing Spring, Liang Qi Memorial Temple, demonstration protected overseas Chinese houses and the watchtower in the rice field by bike or on foot.

"These overseas Chinese buildings represent the glory of those days," said Huang Guanjie, president of the youth association of Zhongshan Taiwan Business Investors Social Association. "Every brick and tile in this place is a testament to the diligent efforts of Zhongshan people abroad."

Caobian is one of the well-preserved ancient villages in Zhongshan, with a history of more than 950 years. Many celebrities in Zhongshan's history, such as Liang Qi, an initiator of Xiangshan County, were all born here.

Caobian Village now has more than 60 overseas Chinese houses, watchtowers and other old buildings. Since the late Qing Dynasty, the villagers of Caobian have ventured overseas, leaving footprints all over Australia and the Americas. Currently, there are still more than 2,000 descendants of the Liang family living abroad.
