To celebrate the one-year countdown to the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, a sports carnival for people with disabilities was held in Zhongshan by the disabled persons' federations of Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Foshan on December 6. About 150 athletes participated in dryland curling, basket shooting, sitting volleyball, chess and other sports events.

The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games, co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, will take place from December 8 to 15, 2025, featuring a total of 46 sports events. Zhongshan will host for events, including athletics, bocce, weightlifting and roller skating.
