Zhongshan is one of Macao's most important supply bases of fresh agricultural products, and the freshwater aquatic animals exported from Zhongshan to Macao account for about 60% of the Macao market. Zhongshan has supplied about 105,000 tons of aquatic animals to Macao since the special administrative region's return to the motherland 25 years ago.

Zhongshan Foodstuffs Imp & Exp Co Ltd of Guangdong, a primary supplier of live freshwater fish to Macao, delivers about 4 tons of freshwater fish to the special administrative region daily, accounting for 50% of the Zhongshan's total supply.
