At 6:37 AM on May 18, 2025 (Beijing time), Liu Siru, a 50-year-old resident of Xiaolan, Zhongshan, stood atop Mount Qomolangma (8,848.86 meters), becoming the first woman from Zhongshan to achieve this feat.
In 2003, Liu relocated to Xiaolan from Dongguan as an aerobics instructor at a friend's invitation, later launching her own fitness business.
Her mountaineering journey began unexpectedly in April 2023 when, at 48, she summited Nepal's Lobuche Peak (6,119 meters) during her first-ever high-altitude climb.
In 2024, she conquered Muztagh Ata (7,546 meters), known as the "Father of Ice Mountains," earning her qualification to attempt Mount Qomolangma.
