The Luminance by Simon Yam multimedia art exhibition, organized by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association and funded by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency of the Hong Kong SAR Government, recently opened at Tai Kwun in Central of Hong Kong.

During the exhibition, Simon Yam, a veteran actor in Hong Kong, and Zhou Xueqing, a representative inheritor of Cantonese embroidery — a national intangible cultural heritage — unveiled their monumental cross-disciplinary embroidery work Silk Charm. Using a unique "light-and-shadow embroidery" technique, this collaboration created an innovative dialogue between film art and traditional craftsmanship, offering audiences a boundary-breaking visual feast.
Earlier this month, Zhou was invited by the UK Royal School of Needlework to deliver a special lecture to undergraduate embroidery students.

With over 40 years of embroidery experience, Zhou is now a professor at Zhongshan Polytechnic. Her original "Snowflake Stitch" blends the elegance of Su embroidery with the vibrancy of Cantonese embroidery, forming a distinctive Xiangshan embroidery style. Her works have won over 30 national awards and featured in CCTV's documentaries and Spring Festival Gala.
