The softball competition of the 15th National Games kicked off at the Zhongshan International Baseball and Softball Center on November 10.

The tournament brings together nine powerhouse teams — Guangdong, Sichuan, Shanghai, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Henan, Beijing and Hong Kong — split into two groups for multi-round group stage battles.

In the opening day's group round-robin matches, Beijing notched a winning start by defeating Henan in the opener, while host Guangdong claimed its first home win with a victory over Shaanxi.
