The Xihe Pump Station, designed for a flood drainage capacity of 400 m³/s, was put into use on January 20.

Situated at the Qijiang River west exit on the western main embankment of the Zhongshun Dike in Zhongshan's Banfu Town, the facility primarily serves drainage, flood/tidal control and emergency irrigation/water replenishment.
Xihe Pump Station and the existing Xihe Water Gate and Xihe Ship Lock form the Xihe Water Conservancy Hub, the largest water resources complex in Zhongshan.
Technical experts confirm that with its 400 m³/s capacity, Xihe Pump Station now surpasses Jiangsu's Huai'an Pump Station (previously Asia's largest at 300 m³/s), standing as the pump station with the largest single-unit design flow rate in Asia.
On the same day, Zhongshan also launched 11 key projects for the "Beautiful Rivers and Lakes" scheme, with total investment nearing 20 billion yuan. Over half of them focus on building modern water networks and enhancing flood/drainage resilience.
