Zheng Yi, a descendant of Chung Mun Yew, one of the first Chinese Educational Mission students sent to study in the United States in the late Qing Dynasty, donated a collection of over 200 family artifacts and records to the Zhongshan Museum.

Zheng's ancestors hailed from Guhe Village in Zhongshan's Sanxiang Town. His great-grandmother was the younger sister of Chung Mun Yew. Zheng's grandfather, who was born in Hawaii and studied in Hong Kong, followed Chung Mun Yew to work in various places and once served as secretary to the Qing government's consul general in the Philippines.
The collection spans from the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty to the early years of the People's Republic of China, including archival documents, receipts, lacquerware and glassware, offering tangible evidence of the Zheng family's history in Guhe.
"These artifacts carry over a century of family memories. I donated them to my hometown's museum to help preserve our roots for future generations and to do my small part in enriching the city's historical and cultural heritage," Zheng said.
