The much-anticipated "super sports complex" for Zhongshan residents has taken another step forward: the tender announcement for construction supervision of the Qijiang New Town Fitness Center (Phase 1) was released on the Zhongshan Public Resources Trading Platform on September 20.

Located in the core area of Qijiang New Town, south of Zhongshan Talent Park, the center carries an estimated investment of 460 million yuan. It will include 12 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, 8 pickleball courts, 9 tennis courts, 18 table tennis tables, 1 outdoor 100-meter running track, 6 badminton courts, 1 pump track, 2 activity areas for all ages and children, and other supporting facilities.

According to public reports, construction of the first phase is expected to begin by the end of this year.

Earlier in March this year, a tender announcement for the schematic design of Phase 2 was issued. Covering about 14.27 hectares, the second phase will include comprehensive sports venues, parking lots and outdoor supporting facilities.
