The 8th Ethnic Traditional Sports Games of Guangdong Province will be held in Zhongshan from November 24 to 30, drawing 22 delegations representing 21 prefecture-level cities and Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University.

The Games will feature 13 competitive events, with traditional ethnic sports such as huapao, pearl ball, cuqiu (kickball), shuttlecock kicking, dragon boat racing and top spinning all on the program. Guangdong Lion Dance, a national-level intangible cultural heritage item, has been upgraded from an exhibition event to an official competitive event.

Exhibition events will fall into three categories — competitive, acrobatic and comprehensive — and comprise 29 performances, many of which draw on local Lingnan folk customs.
