The 140th China Import and Export Fair, better known as the Canton Fair, opens today in Guangzhou and will run through November 4.

A total of 378 companies in Zhongshan exhibit at the fair, including 250 high-tech, innovative, and single-product champion enterprises.

"We started preparing 6 months in advance and are showcasing our latest fully automatic coffee machines, portable blenders and smart rice cookers," said Ma Lan, general manager of marketing at Enaiter, a technology company based in Dongfeng town, adding that the new products incorporate a wide range of new materials and technologies to meet modern families' demand for convenience and healthier living.

Before the fair's opening, overseas buyers had already been arriving in droves. "Many orders have been secured ahead of the fair," Ma said. Factory visits and face-to-face negotiations have become routine in the run-up to and after the fair.
